The Call to Prayer at Love Lines
Prayer is the heart of the Love Lines ministry. We are known as a place to call if you want agreement for a specific prayer request, but that is backed up by intercessory and worship prayer that goes on throughout the day. I have an assistant in prayer, Carol Johnson, who works on a management level to keep prayer in the forefront, as an important ministry tool.

It begins every morning in the prayer room at 5:00 a.m. with me and a variety of staff members coming before the Lord to lay down the burdens of the previous day and open our hearts to what God has for today. Often I am there with the counselors from the two telephone shifts that overlap at that time, the 2:00 a.m. - 6:00 a.m. shift and the 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. shift.

The first shift, the 2:00 a.m. counselors, joins me as they "pray out", a term we use for the closing prayers of the team members of the shifts, as they lay out the prayer requests they have received through their counseling calls, burdens they picked up as they talked to callers, praise reports for the miracles God has performed and lifting the specific names of callers who have made salvation decisions or prayed to rededicate their lives to the Lord Jesus.

The second shift, the 6:00 a.m. people, join us as they come in at 5:45 a.m. They "pray in", asking God to fill them and use them as He needs for that day. They share personal prayer requests, burdens relating to their own needs and family. They get an update on Love Lines' prayer needs, and they often pray over me and the Board of Directors as we lead the staff into another day.
